Day 1: Guwahati airport/railway station to Shillong
Arrival at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station & transfer to Shillong (4,900 ft.), called "Scotland of the East" (100 kms 4 hrs). On arrival at Shillong, check-in at your hotel spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 2: Shillong to Mawlynnong and Dawki
After early breakfast drive to Krang- suri waterfall, nestled in the serenity of Jaintia hills, Krang Suri falls is amongst one of the most scenic waterfalls of Meghalaya. The falls is blessed with shimmering blue waters and lush green picturesque surrounding.t is another 20-minute walk to the falls through a quaint stone pathway brimming with natural beauty. The enchanting burbling sound of the falls kept getting louder as we inched closer. The tranquil ambience and charming beauty of this place will rejuvenate your soul.
After Krang- Suri we will drive to Dawki a small town near India-Bangladesh border. Have you seen those Northeastern postcards having boats floating in the air? This is it! The water of Umngot river is so clear that it gives an illusion of boats floating in the air. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Umngot River. Stay overnight at your hotel in Mawlynnong. Visit the Bora hill waterfall while coming back from Dawki and pass by the Bangladesh border.
Later proceed to Mawlynnong is called “God’s own Garden” and has enough reasons for that. It was awarded the title “cleanest village in Asia” by Discover India in 2003. Cleanliness must be its most important aspect, but it has achieved so much more than that. From a full hundred percent literacy rate to a highly progressive scenario for women, it has struck all the correct chords.
Day 3: Mawlynnong sightseeing and drive to Cherrapunjee
After breakfast, get ready to start another day of visiting interesting places. We will start with Mawlynnong which offers many interesting sights such as the living root bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another small rock.
Then drive to Cherrapunjee (4,400 ft.), the wettest place in the world. It will be a leisurely-paced drive through some breathtaking views of the valley and some spectacular falls. On the way, we will do a guided walk at Mawphlang Sacred Forest. This sacred forest has been in the protection of the Khasi Tribe and taking anything out of the forest here is taboo! It is so dense that at places even the sunlight struggles to reach. We will do a nature walk with a local guide. Post Mawphlang, we will proceed to Cherrapunjee and check-in at the hotel.
In the afternoon proceed for Mawsmai Cave. These limestone caves have the distinction of being the only caves in Meghalaya that are lit enough to enable tourists to enjoy the natural formations in awe. Though the caves are long, only a distance of 150 meters is open for tourists, while the other section is closed. The stalactites and stalagmites caves have innumerable forms, shapes and sizes inside leaving one to imagine as many life forms as possible.
A stop at Nohsngithiang Falls: Plunging down a height of 1,035 ft, the Nohsngithiang Falls is the fourth highest waterfall in India. This waterfall is also known as Seven Sister Falls or Mawsmai Falls, the latter being the name of a village The Seven Sister Falls derives its name from the seven streams that flow down the plateau-like feature. A stop at Ecopark. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.
Day 4: Cherrapunjee sightseeing
After breakfast we will get ready for a half day trek to visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge deep inside the jungle. The entire trek is a life time experience for all of us who mostly reside in a concrete jungle. Fresh air and nature all around, it has around 3200 to 3800 steps (low height) to reach the double decker bridge. For people who do not wish to take the entire trek can enjoy the single deck bridge that is half the way down. Upon arrival at Double decker, you will confront a beautiful creation of mankind with help of mother nature. The crystal clear water flowing beneath the bridge is another delight! Dip your legs in water and a fish spa is there on the house :). Ever seen those aquarium based fish spa counters in a nearby mall? Here the nature will provide you the same in much better surroundings and that also without any charges…can’t get better!. We will start early and it will take 4 to 5 hrs (depending on the physical fitness of the person). Want to skip Double-decker hike? Alternatively, you may visit to Nohkalikai falls and Dainthelen Falls. Evening back to the hotel. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.
Day 5: Cherrapunjee to Shillong, Shillong sightseeing
Go for a walk early in the morning in the village of Cherrapunji, find out why and how the village is so clean by interacting with the villagers!!
After breakfast, we will drive back to Shillong, on our way will visit the Elephant waterfall, these falls consist of three mesmerising falls in succession. The first of the three waterfalls are tucked between the dense trees and are very broad. The second waterfall reduces to thin strands of water and is almost negligible in winters due to the receding water levels. The third and the most visible waterfall is the tallest with clear water flowing like a sheet of milk on the dark rocks in the backdrop.
Followed by a visit to Don Bosco Museum: Competitions for writers, musicians and lyricists are held in the premises and researchers and scholars name the museum as their favourite place for understanding the indigenous culture of North East India.
Evening is free for personal activities, you can take a stroll at police bazaar and do local shopping. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 6: Shillong to Cherrapunjee
After breakfast, we will drive to Guwahati. En-route visit Umium Lake (Boat ride can be done here at your own expense). Afternoon we will take a tour of Golden sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra. Evening time free at leisure, do shopping at Fancy bazaar or visit other nearby places. Overnight stay at Guwahati.
Day 7: Departure
Early morning visit to Kamakhya Temple. Return back, have breakfast and say goodbye to the northeast with unforgettable memories of this beautiful destination.
2 Nights Shillong.
2 Nights Cherrapunjee.
1 Night Mawlynnong.
1 Night Guwahati.
